The Ace Hotel told me so.
I think I like New York.
Hello World!
Virginia Regional- the FIRST robotics competition.
I’ve been involved with a team for a couple years, and now that I’ve graduated I can’t fully participate. But I can still go to the competitions. This year’s competition goal: for the robots to hang inflated inner tubes on pegs on the wall, with various point allotments for height, and extra points if you A) place a yellow ring during the first 15 seconds of the match or B) put together a FIRST logo. This- this is just crazy:
three yellow loops!! FOUR FREAKIN LOGOS!! ooooohhh my goshhhh.
This picture is a tragedy for several reasons.
1. A man’s house was burned down.
2. It was arson.
3. It was an act of racism; it was done either by remnants of the KKK or by a copycat group.
4. This is normal in the area.
I am very serious about this. It truly saddens me. These attitudes should not be normal. Anymore, ever.
This is the magic path through the woods by my house.
This is an old car in the woods.
It’s right off the magic path.
I don’t know how it got there or
who put it there or
why.
There are trees growing through it
and all the stuffing’s been stolen from the cushions
by birds. Now there’s just springs.
The hood is torn off and it doesn’t have tires
either.
So, yesterday (or rather very early this morning), my friend showed me this website : http://svr225.stepx.com:3388/book-of-kells
This is… super cool
“The Book of Kells (Irish: Leabhar Cheanannais) (Dublin, Trinity College Library, MS A. I. (58), sometimes known as the Book of Columba) is an illuminated manuscript that is a masterwork of Western calligraphy and represents the pinnacle of Insular illumination. It is also widely regarded as Ireland’s finest national treasure. Transcribed by Celtic monks ca. 800, it contains the four Gospels of the New Testament in Latin, together with various prefatory texts and tables. The text of the Gospels is largely drawn from the Vulgate, although it also includes several passages drawn from the earlier versions of the Bible known as the Vetus Latina.” (from the aforementioned website).
What a beautiful, pristine example of the Celtic style of illumination. I just can’t get over how pretty this is. Plus it speaks to my very Irish side (which I love- my name is colleen and my graduation ring is a claddagh ring, for gosh sakes).
If this is not one of the most beautiful pieces of craftsmanship and art you’ve ever seen, you’re either really crazy or darn lucky.
My dad sent me this article and I thought it was really interesting, just wanted to share it. Here’s the link:

(I’m not sure if that’s turning into an actual link. So you might have to copy and paste it. Sorry)
This concludes (for now) my series on hands. See, the thing is, no matter how advanced our robotic technology seems to be getting, we will never be able to reproduce in a lab the kind of functionality that God created especially for Human Hands. There may be robots that can play the piano and robots that can comb their hair and millions of other robots that can do a few things, but none of them can do it all.
Dear God, I love you. Thanks for my hands.
